September 2023 Return to School

Back to School Information

We are looking forward to welcoming all children back to school on Wednesday 6th September.

To help all families have a smooth start to the new term, we have listed some helpful 'Back to School' reminders below.

If you need to contact Godolphin before the start of term, or if you have any questions you would like support with, please email the school office on gjaoffice@theparkfederation.org or email Mrs Abell on habell@theparkfederation.org

School Day Timings

All pupils should arrive at school between 8.30-8.40am. The school gates are closed at 8.40am and any pupils who arrive after this time will be marked as late. Please make sure children are on time for school, which helps them to have a smooth and positive start to the day.

Home time is 3.30pm for all children.

Drop Offs and Pick Ups

In the mornings, pupils should be dropped off at the correct school gate, and then they will walk to their classroom independently. There are staff on duty at the school gates and on the playgrounds to welcome children and guide them to their classroom.

Year 3 and 4 pupils should be dropped off at the Cinder Track Gate.

Year 5 and 6 pupils should be dropped off at the Main Gate.

If Year 3/4 pupils have an older sibling in Year 5/6 then it is fine for all children to enter at the Cinder Track Gate and for the older sibling to walk to their own classroom.

At home time, children should be collected from the correct playground.

Year 3 and 4 pupils should be collected from the 3/4 Playground.

Year 5 and 6 pupils should be collected from the 5/6 Playground.

If parents would like to arrange for their Year 5/6 child to meet them on the 3/4 playground for collection, this is fine as long as the class teacher is informed verbally, or via a written note.

If you have a child in Year 5/6 and you would like to give them permission to walk home alone, then you must complete a permission form and hand it to the school office. Permission forms can be collected in the school office or can be requested by email.

If your child is in Year 3/4 or does not have permission to walk home then they must be collected by an adult or close relative who is 16 years or older. This procedure is part of our safeguarding policy.

School Uniform

We look forward to seeing all pupils looking smart and feeling proud in their uniform.

Details of the GJA uniform can be found here:

PE Kits and PE Days

When your child has PE, they can come to school wearing their PE kit. Pupils should still look smart and should be dressed in the correct kit as stated in our school uniform policy.

PE Days for 2023/24 are as follows:

Year 3 - Wednesday

Year 4 - Thursday

Year 5 - Tuesday

Year 6 - Friday

PE lessons will not begin until w/c 11th September.

School Meals

We have an excellent catering company called Pabulum who provide enjoyable and nutritious school meals. If you would like to order school meals for your child, please find further information here:

Equipment

You do not need to provide your child with any equipment for school, we will make sure they have all of the equipment they need.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club will begin on Wednesday 6th September. It opens at 8.00am and children who attend will be provided with a healthy breakfast and an active activity or an e-learning activity. Breakfast Club is only £1 p/day and is free of charge to families eligible for pupil premium funding.

Breakfast Club is open to anyone who would like a place. More details can be found here:

Extra-Curricular Clubs

We have another exciting club menu ready for the autumn term. The details about after school clubs for the autumn term will be shared at the start of term. All after school clubs run from 3.30-4.30pm and they cost £5.00 for 10 sessions. We hope lots of children will be encouraged to sign up!

Meet The Teacher

We will be hosting a 'Meet the Teacher' event in September where parents will be invited into their child's classroom to meet the class teacher and receive information about GJA, our curriculum and our learning opportunities. A separate letter will be sent out with the details of this event at the start of term.

The Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

The senior leadership team are on gate duty every morning and are on hand to help. If you have any questions or would like help with an issue please do feel free to come and talk to us.

SLT will also be on the playgrounds, every day, at home time. Please do speak to Mrs Abell, Mrs Sangha, Mrs Hussain, Miss Powell or Mrs Tudor if you would like help with any issue you may have.

The class teachers are also on the playground each day to dismiss their class and are happy to assist with any questions you may have.

Inhalers and Medical Information

If your child uses an inhaler, please remember to return inhalers to school on the first day back so there is always an inhaler on site for your child. If you haven't done so already, please provide the school office with any medical information regarding your child.

Further Support

Sometimes children can feel anxious about returning to school after a long break, which is perfectly natural and understandable. If your child does feel nervous then we recommend reminding them of all the positives they have to look forward to, and talking through the return to school in a step-by-step, reassuring way. This guide has some helpful strategies, which you may find helpful:
