Vision and Principles
Music provision at GJA, is provided by our local Music Hub, Slough Music Service.
Music Intent
Our music curriculum is designed to ignite a lifelong love of music in every child, fostering creativity, self-expression, and a deep appreciation for performing arts. We believe that all children deserve access to a rich and diverse musical education that empowers them to explore, create, and perform.
We aim to provide a wide range of musical experiences, including singing songs from different times and places, exposing children to diverse cultures and traditions. Learning to play an instrument is a core element of our curriculum offer, providing opportunities to develop technical skills, musicality, and the many cognitive and social benefits that come with it. Performance is key, and we strive to provide regular opportunities for children to perform in front of live audiences, building confidence and sharing their musical talents.
Our curriculum encompasses a broad spectrum of musical genres, from classical masterpieces to contemporary hits, exploring music from different places, traditions, cultures, and times. We encourage active listening and critical engagement with music, fostering an appreciation for its power to evoke emotions, tell stories, and connect people. We nurture individual talent and support musical growth, providing pathways for children to develop their skills and pursue their musical passions. Ultimately, we aim to equip our students with the musical knowledge, skills, and appreciation to enrich their lives and become lifelong music lovers.
Our music lessons are delivered by our local music hub, Slough Music Service. This means that our pupils are taught by professional music teachers and talented musicians. Through our Music Hub, we deliver whole class instrumental lessons, weekly singing lessons, peripatetic instrumental lessons and opportunities to perform in local events and concerts.
