Geckos
At Godolphin Junior Academy we are keen to insure every child has a fun and active lunchtime. Godolphin provides daily clubs for children, as part of our lunchtime ‘Geckos’ groups. Children are chosen to take part in the groups by the school's inclusion team, in collaboration with the children’s class teachers.
During these sessions, children are able to work on their personal skills, so that they can work with others, develop their social skills and develop strategies to make lunchtimes a success for themselves. These skills can also then be transferred back into the classroom. Some pupils take part in more than one activity and these groups have the support of our Young Leaders.
Geckos sessions run for 30 minutes, every day, and each child who is selected is able to bring a friend of their choice with them. Each child receives their own lunchtime ticket and lanyard and this allows them to show responsibility in looking after their tickets and attending their clubs on time.
There are a mixture of activities but they all focus on social skills, team building and playing/working together.
